McKinney Baby Shower

Candace, Stephanie, Julie C, and Julie N threw us a wonderful baby shower in McKinney. I had so much fun! Several of my college friends, work friends and Jason's family got to come. I could not believe what a great turn out it was. We had wonderful food and the presents were amazing. We got several items that will be essential for us to be successful parents for Keegan, fun toys, adorable outfits, our stroller for the travel system, baby bouncer, diaper champ, and jogging stroller. I can't believe that we will be using all of these items soon. My goal for the week is to start washing blankets and clothes. The nursery is organized but we are waiting on one more thing before we take pictures. Here are some pictures from the shower.

Corsicana Baby Shower

We had a wonderful shower in Corsicana last weekend. Everything was perfect! I had so much fun spending time with my family and friends. Keegan is going to be so loved and spoiled. We had an amazing turn out at the shower, and we got so many wonderful presents. I can't wait to dress him in all of his adorable clothes, use the soft blankets and play with the toys. We also got several big items including the car seat, pack-n-play, bumbo, monitor and activity gym. I feel so much more prepared for his arrival now. Several people put together great baskets of all of the baby essentials like thermometers and medicine. My parents came down this past weekend to help us organize everything.Haley, Lindsay, Me, Jourdan and Brooke

We started taking our birthing classes last week. We have already learned so much. I must say that I leave overwhelmed every time but I know the information will make me feel more prepared. I have started a to do list. I know poor Jason thinks I am crazy because the list is three pages long. We have been working hard to mark things off. The problem is that I keep adding to the list. We have a few more things to do in the nursery and it will be ready. I will post the final pictures in the next few weeks. I want to post the pictures when everything is done.

Happy Birthday Jason!!!

Jason turned 30 on July 15th. On the night of his birthday, we had dinner at Chuy's. The Thursday after his birthday we went to Austin. We had dinner with my sister, Candace, and her boyfriend, James. We headed to 6th Street to watch James play at Maggie Mae's. James plays the drums for Curtis Grimes. On Friday, we meet up with Julie and Dave. (Dave's 30th birthday was the 18th.) We thought it would be fun to celebrate the boys' birthdays in San Antionio. We stopped in San Marcos for some shopping, and then we headed onto San Antonio. Friday night, we had dinner on the River Walk and took a carriage ride around downtown San Antonio. Saturday, Jason and Dave played golf at the Quarry Golf Course. Julie and I spent the day shopping and laying out. Saturday night, we had dinner at Mi Tierra's and enjoyed some great pralines!! It was a great weekend!Jason and I at the Hard Rock Cafe

Three Great Years!!

On July 1st, Jason and I celebrated our third anniversary. He planned a great night and surprised me with diamond earrings. I absolutely love my earrings, and I have not taken them off since I got them. We had dinner at the Melting Pot and stayed at the Gaylord Texan. It was great to get away and hangout.

Prayers for Imani

One of my sweet, middle school cheerleaders was diagnosed with acute leukemia last week. She has been sick since the first week of June. I remember her not feeling well Monday during the last week of school. I thought she had a cold or the flu. I would never have dreamed she had cancer. After several doctors appointments and a visit to the emergency room, the doctors started to notice that her lab work was not adding up. She was diagnosed on Thursday, June 18th, and she started chemo on Friday, June 19th. Her treatment plan will be chemo for the next six months. Once she has completed the chemo treatments, she will continue to be monitored closely for the next two years to make sure she remains cancer free. From that point on, she will have check-ups once a year. The doctors have been very reassuring that they think she will make a complete recovery. They were so impressed with how her body handled the first two rounds of chemo, that they let her go home three days early.

It breaks my heart that she is so young and having to fight such a hard battle. Her family is amazing, and I have no doubt that they will continue to provide her with love and support until she is cancer free. The 8th grade cheerleaders have been great! They have a done a awesome job reaching out to Imani and supporting her. Imani will not be able to come to school until her chemo treatments are complete. The doctors and her family feel like it will be best to complete the first semester in the home bound program. She will still be a huge part of our cheerleading program and events. She is such an amazing student that she has already asked about meeting her teachers before the school year starts.

Please pray for her strength over the next few months, for her family and the doctors that are taking care of her.
