One Month Check-Up

Keegan had his one month check-up today. I can't believe that we have been blessed to spend the last month with him. He is so much fun! In the last few weeks, he has become more alert. I love listening to his little noises. He loves to grunt, which makes me think he might be a talker. He is growing so fast and is quickly out growing his newborn outfits. He has starting working out his little schedule. He loves to eat, and he makes sure he gets a feeding every three hours. He does not like going to sleep, so we all work hard to help him relax. I think he is worried about missing the fun.
One Month Stats:
Weight - 10 pounds 2 ounces (75 percentile)
Height - 22.5 inches (90-95 percentile)
Head - 15.5 (75-90 percentile)

Play Time

Keegan has been playing hard the last few weeks. He loves his play/activity mat. Last week, he actually grabbed one of the toys and held on tight. He loves looking at the toys and lights.

He is having so much fun!

At small group, we put the kids in birth order for a picture. We are going to keep taking pictures every few months so we can see how the kids grow up together. They were all perfect as we lined them up for the picture. I am sure this is going to get challenging as they all start moving around more.

Trick or Treat...Happy Halloween!!

We had a great Halloween with Keegan. Jason and I love handing out candy to the neighborhood kids. It is so much fuun to see kids dressed up in their costumes and watch their faces fill up with joy when you drop candy into the trick-or-treat bags.

My mom had this witch when I was little. She passed it to me. I had to take his picture with her. It will be fun to watch him grow up and pose with the witch every Halloween.

Pumpkin Patch

We took Keegan to the Pumpkin Patch at Grave Avenue Church. The poor little guy was not excited to be out in the chilly weather. We had fun taking pictures with him. I love this time of year, and I am already planning several traditions that I want us to do as a family each year. Jason, Keegan and I at the Pumpkin Patch

(Thanks for the adorable outfit Shay!!)

Keegan has the cutest little smile. It is so hard to capture it in a picture. I think this picture is the closest we have gotten. Don't you just want to kiss him???

Harvest Party 2009

Our Bible Fellowship Group has a Harvest Party every year. The kids get to come in their costumes, and the adults enjoy visiting with wonderful friends. Jason and I were so excited to go this year because we knew that Keegan would be here. Keegan is a tiger for Halloween. It was hard to find a newborn costume but I finally got one at Wal-mart.

Two Week Check-Up

Keegan had his two week check-up today. Dr. Newton was very pleased with his progress, which made me happy. Of course, I showed up with a list of questions, and Dr. Newton helped answer all of them. I felt so much better when I left from the appointment. Next week, he will get the second newborn screen test at the hospital. Pops (my dad) came to spend the day with us and take us to the appointment. Thanks for taking us Pops!

Two Week Stats:

Weight -8 pounds 3 ounces (50-75 percentile)

Height - 21.3 inches (75-90 percentile)

Head - 14.8 inches (75 percentile)
We have already started the pacifier habit. He loves it! He tends to suck it so hard that it flies out of his little mouth. The smart little guy has figured out how to hold it in his mouth. Too cute!

Reflection thus far . . .

So, Kristen and Keegan are feeding...I thought I would do some blogging (for her)

I am calling this my "Reflection thus far..."

Keegan:

  • He is the joy of our lives.
  • He loves his hands or arms free when swaddled. It is a challenge for him to get free. His shoulder is usually pulled out of his pj's (evidence that he tried to get his arms free).
  • He loves his hands in his face.
  • When startled, his arms go straight up (making a touchdown sign). This is a given, he will do it everytime!
  • He loves managing to get his socks off.
  • He isn't a fan of hats. Why mess up the great hair?!?!
  • Car rides of course make him sooo sleepy!
  • He likes kicking his blanket off when he is in the bouncer...must be the soccer in him!
  • He tends to win over whoever holds him. Be careful this is a very dangerous skill he possesses!
  • From October 6th, he has made me realize how awesome it is to be a dad. Words can not explain what happens when your son is born!

Kristen:

  • Is so in love with Keegan.
  • Loves spending as much time possible with our son! She ran the quickest Wally World run today (1st errand without him)!
  • Is a STUD! Has not once complained about her lack of sleep or her motherly duties, she is a champ!
  • Did I mention she loves this little guy?!?!
  • Thinks Keegan is sooo handsome!
  • Is making her husband so proud of how awesome she is at being mom.

A lot of people have told us before this experience that sleep would be non-existent, but what we are both finding is that we never realized how much we are willing to sacrifice for Keegan. He is worth all the sleepless nights, dirty diapers and the complete change of life. We are so thankful to be Keegan's parents, and our lives have been so richly blessed in these short 2 weeks we have gotten to spend with our son! I can't imagine how life was without him before and wouldn't trade it in for anything in the world!
