TOO CUTE!!!

Our friend, Julie Conary, called me a few weeks ago to tell me about a new Gymboree line. It is for boys and called Soccer Champ. I think all of the items are adorable! Check it out if you have not seen it. Julie surprised me this last week and bought us this onesise. She also bought two cute navy bows to match. Julie is convinced it is a girl and I am just not sure. We have fun discussing what we think it will be. If we have a girl, I have no doubt that she will be adorable in her soccer outfit. If it is a boy, watch out Gymboree. I am going to buy one of everything.

2009 Titan Soccer Banquet

On Tuesday, we went to the 2009 Titan Soccer Banquet. It was great to see all of the soccer players dressed in their best and celebrating a great season. I loved the guest speaker and his message. He encouraged the audience to GLOW (give more, leave more, offer praise and wonder). Jason's varsity team ended the season 12-7-3. Jason's assistant coach, Adrian, is going to be the new coach at Heritage High School. Jason is sad to see him go, but he is excited for the new challenges and experiences that Adrian is going to have. I am glad to see him at Heritage, since my students from Roach will feed into his high school.

We Are Expecting A Baby In October!!!!

We are expecting a baby on October 7th. We are thrilled about the exciting news. I have been to five appointments already and everything looks great. My favorite part is hearing the heartbeat. It truly is a miracle!! On May 20th, we will find out if it is a boy or a girl. At our early screen appointment, the doctor told us that he thought it was a girl. I am not convinced so I am excited to find out.

I told Jason the big news by giving him a surprise bag. I put his goodies in a soccer bag so that he would think it was a soccer gift for the start of his new season. Here is a picture of the books and soccer onesises.

We told my parents when we were 6 weeks. I got them a Grandparents' Legacy Book and fun bibs. I also made a Powers Ranch onesise for them. I know our kids will love spending time at my parents house. I can't wait to spend time in the country with the baby.

A New Kitchen

We have been in the process of updating our kitchen. The exciting part is we did almost all of the work ourselves with the help of family and friends. (We had to have a plumber help move the pipes under the sink.) My parents have been awesome help! We started working on the cabinets in January. We added beadboard to the side of the cabinets, took the moulding off of the top of the cabinets and added it to the bottom, added new crown moulding to the top of the cabinets, painted the cabinets, and tea stained them to give them an antique look. Over Spring Break, Jason ripped out the white and green backsplash, along with the sheet rock. The next step was to add new backerboard and take the lamanite off of the countertops. After we had all of the prep work done, we starting cutting the granite tiles and added new trim to the edge of the countertops. We put up a tumblestone tile backsplash. We also added tiles behind the cooktop that look like old ceiling tiles. After all of the hard work was done, Jason added new hardware to the cabinets and a granite sink. I absolutely love the finished look. I am so happy to have my kitchen back and functioning. We have a few places to touch up the a paint. We ordered a new cooktop that should be here soon. Someday we will replace the oven, microwave and vent hood.

Manda's Prayer Pager

Many of you know that our dear friend Manda is going through a very hard time. Just 6 days after her baby boy Aiden was born, the doctors discovered that she had cancer in her leg. Now, two weeks later, they have decided to move forward and remove her leg and begin the journey that will include chemo. Manda has been given a pager and every time you pray for her, her husband Aaron or baby Aiden, please send her a page to let her know. Super Bowl 2009

We had a great time this Super Bowl. The Cockrofts always throw a great Super Bowl party with tons of food and pregame flag football. It is always fun to see who gets to take home the trophies. Yes, Jon gets trophies every year. It is so much fun! Jason and I also got to play with Baby Cockroft...he is adorable! Jon and Paige, thank for having us again!!

Christmas with the Powers

We got to spend a few days in Corsicana. I love going to my parents house! We went to the candleight service at FBC Corsicana. On Christmas Day, we delivered gifts to a family in Corsicana. My mom started a new tradition last year. She picks a family from her school to take presents to on Christmas Day. Jason and I missed out last year. This year we go to share in the experience. It was the perfect thing to do on Christmas Day. The family was so thankful and the cute kids were super excited.

Uncle Lanny thought we should spend some time shooting skeet before dinner. My great aunt, Aunt Carolyn, even took a few turns. Great idea Uncle Lanny! It was fun!
